Size: Garden-asparagus plants grow 4 to 12 inches (10 to 30 cm) high.

Plant Yeild: 25 crowns per person after 3 years will prduce enough to last the season and freeze left over produce

Soil: Growing asparagus is best in well-drained sandy soil that's slightly alkaline (pH: 6.5 to 7.0)

Planting time: early spring

Planting Spacing: To grow your own crowns, drill seed in the spring 1/2 inch deep and 2 inches apart in rows 2 to 3 ft apart
Using pregrown crowns, plant in rows 5 feet apart with the crowns spaced 12 inches apart in the row

Diseases: Fusarium Crown and Root Rot, Fusarium Wilt, Needleblight, Phytophthora Crown and Spear Rot, and Rust.

Organic Diseases Control: Using disease free crowns and well drained soil will help.

Pests: The Common and Spotted Asparagus Beetles, Aphids, and The Asparagus Miner, variegated and black cutworm, Grasshoppers.

Organic Pest Control: Lady Beetles, Cayenne Sprays
